Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) are both types of luxury vinyl flooring, but they have some key differences in terms of their appearance and installation.

Appearance: Luxury vinyl plank is designed to look like hardwood flooring, with long planks that mimic the look of wood boards. The planks come in a variety of lengths and widths, with beveled edges that create a realistic wood look.

Luxury vinyl tile, on the other hand, is designed to look like natural stone or ceramic tile. The tiles come in a variety of sizes and shapes, with beveled edges that create a realistic grout line.

Installation: Luxury vinyl plank and tile can both be installed in a variety of ways, including click-and-lock, glue-down, and loose lay.

Click-and-lock installation involves snapping the planks or tiles together, without the need for adhesive. This is the most popular installation method for luxury vinyl plank, but it can also be used for luxury vinyl tile.

Glue-down installation involves applying adhesive to the subfloor and then laying the planks or tiles in place. This method is more common for luxury vinyl tile, which tends to be thinner and more flexible than luxury vinyl plank.

Loose lay installation involves laying the planks or tiles in place without adhesive, relying on their weight and interlocking design to hold them in place. This method is less common, but can be a good option for temporary or DIY installations.

In summary, the main difference between luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile is their appearance, with LVP mimicking the look of wood planks and LVT mimicking the look of stone or tile. They can both be installed in a variety of ways, but glue-down installation is more common for luxury vinyl tile, while click-and-lock installation is more popular for luxury vinyl plank.
